Thursday proved to be a spectacular day at Alex. John G. (the younger) had a one hour and 24 minute first solo. Dave C. flew the Blanik five hours and 10 minutes. My friend, Tom was lifted from his wheel chair into the front seat of the Grob by a bunch of burly glider pilots (thanks John G. (younger and older), Dave C. and Larry M. )
John is our 5th student to fly solo this summer, and the third teenager! Way to Go CISS!
While we were having fun, Ron C. power washed the T-hangars in preparation for painting. Dick H. did the trim mowing. Nyal W. made a special trip to help sign off John on his solo. Larry M. spent the whole day towing. And behind it all we saw the tireless hand of Kurt who keeps the airport looking beautiful. Thanks all!
