Following are details on the CISC / BSC flying weekend at Kendallville August 27, 28, 29, 30.
We are focusing on the 29th and 30th, but will have tows available on the 27th and 28th if anyone wants to come early.
We have scheduled a group dinner in the hangar at the airport for 6:30 on Saturday August 29. It is being catered by our favorite BBQ chef and the menu will be slow smoked BBQ Brisket, Ribs, and Chicken along with salad, slaw, cornbread, baked beans, fresh local corn on the cob, cheese cake, coffee and lemonade. It is $20 per person and reservations are needed by Monday August 24th.
Please email Dinner Reservations to John Earlywine at jke4034@aol.com or call 260-347-9260.
Everyone is welcome to bring other beverages of their choice.
Airport Camping is available. Restrooms are available and a Shower room is available for $5 per day on the airport. A microwave and limited refrigerator space are available in the terminal and there are many restaurants nearby.
The phone in the New Horizons Aviation Kendallville FBO office at the airport is 260-347-9260.
Camping sites are available at Bixler Lake Campground, a City Park. Camping sites with electricity and water are available for approx $20 per night and primitive campsites are available for approx $16 per night. The phone number is 260-347-9941. Additional info is available at www.kendallville-in.org. This is about 5 miles from the airport.
Special airport rates are available at the Best Western motel (260-347-5263) for $75 plus tax and at the Holiday Inn Express (260-582-4047) for $79 plus tax. Request the airport rate. Both are within 3-4 miles.
Reservations are not necessary at the airport, and if someone wants to use the other options, they should contact the facility directly.
Tows will be $34 to 2000 ft agl, and $0.80 per 100 ft above 2000.
We have tow ropes with 1420# (schweizer ring) weak links and with 2200#. (tost ring), and adaptors are available for both if required for the other ring.
We are wondering if the people flying want to have a common task, just do some local flying, or work out some other informal plan. Will everyone be bringing a glider, or will some want to rent the local 2-33?
Please let us know if you have any additional ideas or questions.
It would help with the planning if you could let us know approximately how many people might be coming to fly. Anyone who might not be flying but would just like to attend the dinner is certainly welcome at the Saturday event.

As requested by John Earlywine please notify him at the e-mail address or call him. The menu sounds terrific, but will not be a Brazilian BBQ. DO TAKE NOTICE that the deadline for reservations is Monday August 24th!!!!!!!
